    There are 300 million women and men who share a common language, French, on all five continents. It is also an institutional body, the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), which promotes French and implements political, educational, economic and cultural cooperation within the 88 member states and governments. The reference text is the Charter of French Speaking World - Francophonia adopted in 2005 by the Summit of Heads of State and Government. The OIF is headed by the Secretary General of La Francophonie. Outside the OIF, the Francophonie is also composed of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie (APF) and four operators: the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), TV5MONDE, the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF) and Senghor University in Alexandria.
